HOME perfect blend
Another decision Cynthia says she’s glad she made is the bar that fits in just the right spot near the kitchen for entertaining. Two bedrooms, two baths, and a mud/laundry room complete the home.
Todd and Sally Joachim have been married 22 years and
now have a daughter, Sadie Rose, 11, and a son, Cooper, 7. Todd is a retired Air Force Lt. Colonel whose posts included Germany and Italy, and Sally
is an architect. “We’ve lived in many places — urban, rural, old, new — and we very purposely picked Tradition because it’s a walkable community where you know people but they’re not up in your face.”
Their 2,400-square-foot
home was built in 2007 in
the Charlestonian style with double stacked front porches, functioning shutters with iron strap hinges, high transoms and detailed columns as you would find in South Carolina, but fitting the general feel of Tradition with planked siding and railings at the porches.
“As an architect trained specifically to value historic design detail, I appreciate
that the house kept true to the Charlestonian style, not only
in the exterior features but in the interior as well, having tall stacked crown moulding, inset detailed panel columns and full window surrounds with wide sills and header mouldings typical of the style,” Sally said.
The Joachims collected treasures from 46 countries when they lived overseas. Sally designed an addition that turned an exterior porch into a windowed garden room to display their finds and to feature entertaining amenities.
Cynthia and Gregg Andrews home features shiplap walls and tongue-and- groove ceilings which gives it a stunning modern farmhouse feel.
