Mattina hosts a lot of family gatherings in this beautiful Tradition home that she decorated with family mementos.

With four grown children and 10 grandchildren, Mattina hosts a lot of family gatherings and has a week long Camp Grandma every summer with planned activities.
Cynthia and Gregg Andrews built their home in 2017 after looking for a home site for two years. “We wanted to downsize and not sacrifice quality,” Cynthia said. “We drove out here many times and made the decision
to build here based on the beauty
of the place and the fact that there’s
a homeowners association and an
architectural review board.”
Their daughters, Caitlyn, a nurse,
and Madeline, an artist, are now living on their own and the parents designed the home with retirement in mind. Cynthia is an upper elementary teacher in Biloxi and Gregg works with Yellowood Great Southern. He grew up in his family’s building materials business. “He knows the latest building materials, probably more than is good for him,” Cynthia jokes.
Their 1,595-square-foot home does utilize many of those materials, including real shiplap on the walls, tongue-and-groove ceilings, luxury
vinyl plank flooring and quartz counter tops in the kitchen. “This flooring is popular and is probably one of the best decisions we made,” Cynthia says.
Ten-foot ceilings add a feeling of spaciousness to the home. Unusual pendant lights over the kitchen island, a brick wall in the dining area, and
a window seat built between two bookcases are some of the home’s best features. The soft wall color, Bali by Benjamin Moore, is perfect with the white trim and white bookshelves. A fishing rod stands by the front door ready for the beckoning lake that’s a few steps away.
