“I’ve always based
my decisions on two things, ‘Is it good for our employees and is it good for our customers?’

the Heart of a F riend. 42 Years of being First For Us.
First Federal Savings & Loan
Meet Weldon D. Perkins, Retiring President & Chief Executive O cer - First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Pascagoula-Moss Point.
After 42 years with First Federal, Weldon D. Perkins says he’s been fortunate to work at and lead an institution like First Federal, but his greatest pleasure has been working with each employee. His career with First Federal began in 1979 when a position became available as a teller. He accepted the opportunity and has been there ever since.
Perkins’ father was a founding member of First Federal in 1955 and he was a liated with the association until his death in 1989. “So when I say ‘First Federal Family,’ it is actually true to me,” says Perkins. One of the most important lessons Perkins learned from his father was to treat people the way you would like to be treated and to help people that are less fortunate than yourself. He has applied this lesson both professionally and personally.
In retirement, Perkins looks forward to being able to travel with his wife, Pam, and to have the freedom to do things in the spur of the moment. He enjoys living on the Coast and says there’s nowhere better to live. “It’s not all about the water or the weather, but more about it being one of the few places left where a sense of respect and courtesy are still practiced by so many.”
