The LACS - June 14
The LACS, a country rap duo from Baxley, Georgia, consist of Clay “Uncle Snap” Sharpe and Brian “Rooster” King. Formed in 2002, the group—originally named “The LACSk”—began blending Southern rock, hip-hop, and traditional country, creating their signature “hick-hop” sound. Initially, they included Brandon Herndon, who contributed to early self-released albums under Side Ya Mouth Records before departing. The LACS, an acronym for “Loud Ass Country Sons,” crafted music that celebrates rural life with gritty rap verses and twangy guitars.
Signing with Backroad Records, a subsidiary of Average Joes Entertainment, in the late 2000s, they released six albums, four of which charted on the Billboard 200. Hits like “Kickin’ Up Mud,” “Country Boy’s Paradise,” and “Keep It Redneck”—the latter peaking at No. 3 on the Top Country Albums chart in 2013—propelled their rise. These tracks, with themes of Southern pride and rebellion, resonated with a diverse audience, from rural fans to urban listeners drawn to their authenticity.
In 2017, The LACS launched Dirt Rock Empire, their own label, to gain creative control. Their first release, Dirtbagz,

Their concerts, filled with anthems like “Field Party,” create a tailgate-party vibe, strengthening their loyal “Dirtbagz” fanbase. The LACS’ raw authenticity and innovative sound continue to shape the country rap scene, inspiring new artists.
