Polar Duck Race
The Beau Rivage 2025 SIS Council kicked off the year in February with a splash — literally. Their first event, a Polar Duck Race, took place in the resort’s pool with employees purchasing ducks to join the race. Kimberly Pelaez, vice president of human resources, agreed to do a polar plunge if 500 ducks were sold, and facilities manager Darryl Beasley agreed to jump in if 1,000 ducks were sold. A total of $4,500 was raised for the MGM Resorts Foundation and both Palaez and Beasley took the icy plunge. As to the duck race, Fallen Oak General Manager Lydia Kim’s duck won first place overall, followed by Elisabeth Romoser, assistant manager banquets, in second place and Beasley in third place.
Community Donations
Ameristar Vicksburg made two donations recently, including $1,000 to the Vicksburg Children’s Shelter. A $3,000 donation was also made to the Vicksburg Animal Shelter.
Showing Appreciation
Magnolia Bluffs Casino Hotel held a First Responders Appreciation Breakfast in February. The buffet meal, held in the hotel lobby, was the
property’s way of thanking police, fire and EMT workers for their dedication and commitment to service and answering the call. General Manager Eugene Gibson was on hand to greet and thank first responders, including Commander Justin Jones
