We’ve been here before. Whether it’s a hurricane, a ood, an algal bloom, or
something equally as devastating, we’ve been here. We’ve struggled, hunkered down, lifted
one another up, and persevered. You can call it a comeback or a revival – we always rebound.
Gulf Coast residents and visitors are cautiously approaching the warmer days of June with the
anticipation that we can once again enjoy the festivities of summer like we have in the past. We hope that life will be just
as good if not better than before. Like the image you can see in your mind of an old-fashioned tent revival along a country road, the aps are open and it’s time to hoot and holler and welcome folks home.
No one entertains or gathers friends and family quite like we do in South Mississippi. For starters, family can be those with whom we share
a name, a mamma, or a relative met once at a reunion. And, for some, it includes anyone we’ve met at least once before! It’s time to reconnect. Or maybe
disconnect from those we’ve shared space with over the past months.
While twenty- rst century technology has been our lifeline to the outside world, let’s
not forget some of the most important lessons of the past few weeks. Slow down, let folks know how much they mean to us, and appreciate the simpler ways of living everyday life.
Now that we can get out a bit, let’s share some laughter, some love, and some good food. Spruce up the back patio, sweep the porch, and buy some groceries, it’s time to entertain. Pull
