COAST NOTE
t Marina Cantina they say sunsets are better with a drink. Now the Bernard Bayou restaurant, which
opened last October, has another option for getting those drinks at the recently opened Boat Drinks Bar.
“The Boat Drinks Bar is an anchored, oating party barge,” says Manager Ben Kaufman. “It’s the world’s smallest oating oyster bar. It opened on Fat Tuesday, February 16, and will be open for guests Friday through Sunday until peak season is upon us. Also, it will be available to rent for parties or special events seven days a week.”
A 30-foot skimmer barge is the base for the new bar that Kaufman says was a collaborative idea brought about my
many years of boating throughout the Florida Keys, Caribbean and Bahamas by the owner and his management team. “It’s a one-of-a-kind addition to not only Marina Cantina in Gulfport but to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and surrounding areas,” he added.
The Boat Drinks Bar will be docked in the restaurant’s marina and accessible by their dock on foot or boaters can pull up on the water.
“We are featuring signature Boat Drinks and cold local beer and serving oysters, boiled shrimp, boiled craw sh, smoked tuna dip and cool specialty drinks,” Kaufman said.
He noted that Marina Cantina has been fortunate to have had a great ‘honeymoon
period’ for its opening in spite of the pandemic. “And that has stretched out due to the warmer, unseasonal weather we’ve had. We’ve aimed to capture the atmosphere of your favorite tropical hideaway combined with a coastal air like no other.”
