BOZO’S SEAFOOD MARKET AND DELI

In the old days, Bozo’s would have fit perfectly into the pigeon hole labeled
“hole in the wall,” albeit one of the most interesting on the Coast. It is still a bit
out of the way, but this place was recently remodeled and is spit-shine new today, brightly painted and beautiful. The prices are still great, the quantity of food is
still staggering, and the food is still delicious. How could a serious foodie bent on exploring Gulf Coast seafood, as perfected by fishermen and industry workers over the years, ask for more?
The Delcambre family started this place as a seafood market in 1956, and present owner, Keith Delcambre, started working here when he was ten years old in 1969. Keith added the deli in 1985, and that’s when the magic started to happen.
Magic, you say? Yep, few places have the right combination of juju that turns
a place into a true phenomenon. The first time I came here it was a Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. Surely, I thought it wouldn’t be busy and the owner would have time to be interviewed. Nope, how wrong could I have been? When I pulled up to Bozo’s the line was out the door. I came back the next day later in the afternoon, and there was no line, but almost every seat was taken and there was a steady stream of people coming in and out.
It’s in fact refreshing to find a family run business that has no pretensions to anything other than exactly what it is: a great little seafood place that delivers exactly what it promises. The menu is simple and straight forward: po-boys, sandwiches, burgers and seafood boxes and dinners. You can have a sandwich for $5, a fully dressed po-boy for $8, or a seafood platter (the most expensive thing
