Though Butch Oustalet has left the car dealership world
in his rearview mirror, he’s far from retired. In fact, his most meaningful work lies ahead, as he makes a substantial impact on the Gulf Coast through the Butch Oustalet Foundation Fund.
With the establishment of its Inaugural Legacy Partners, the Foundation supported a range of influential initiatives in 2024, including Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Willow Warriors, 50 Women Gulf Coast, the WXXV Student Athletic Banquet, the Humane Society of South Mississippi, Spotlight Gulf Coast, the Gulfport Rotary Scholarship Fund, and assisting families in need.
This year, the Foundation’s largest grant of $80,00 was awarded to the Home of Grace due to the organization's highly successful Get Down and Derby event. Thanks to the generosity of donors and partners, the Foundation Fund has contributed more than $125,000 towards Gulf Coast community needs in 2024.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Foundation plans to expand its efforts, raising more donations and deepening its impact by heightening awareness of critical community needs. It’s primary focus for 2025 will be addressing homelessness. The Foundation aims to connect community service providers and elected leaders to improve communication, streamline resources,
and identify gaps in service. With community support, the Foundation hopes to help more homeless citizens access this life- changing process, reducing homelessness across the Gulf Coast.
Reflecting on his journey, Oustalet shared, “I’ve been blessed to be part of a community like no other. When I’m gone, I don’t want to be remembered as a good businessman but as
a good person. I feel the Good Lord guiding me toward that goal. In retirement, I’m dedicated to working with our Board of Directors to serve the Gulf Coast. I spent 54 years selling cars and trucks; now I’m working on God’s team.”
