Chef Sumrall described the eclectic menu as full of fresh pasta, such as carbonara and ravioli, Spanish dishes like a crispy chicken chimichurri with spiced honey, French dishes like crab ravigote, and the freshest, most succulent caviar he can find.
“But I think our Beef Wellington is our biggest draw to the menu,” he said. “It’s just not something that very many people are willing to try, and it’s a relatively difficult dish to really nail, but we do a personal size eight-ounce beef filet, so it’s pretty awesome.”
On the cocktail side, he described the drink menu as tiki-style with rums, tequilas, and mezcals accompanied by freshly sliced passion fruit, guava, pineapple, and banana. “It’s a fun, beautiful, colorful, and playful menu,” he said.
If you haven’t recognized their names by now, you should. The couple is also the culinary visionaries behind White Pillars in Biloxi, which opened in 2017. White Pillars is a nationally recognized farm-to-table restaurant exploring the different tastes of the Gulf Coast with a few unexpected twists. It serves small plates and sample menus with a variety of dishes, from caviar toast to shrimp pad thai.
“They have quite different menus, but we always make sure everything is made with the best quality and freshest we can possibly get,” he said.
Chef Sumrall is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and a 2020 James Beard semi-finalist for “Best Chef South,” and he puts his culinary artisan mark on both menus. In January, the husband-and-wife duo were announced together as a semifinalist for the 2025 James Beard “Best Chef South” award.
The restaurant is open Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Reservations can be made online, and Chef Sumrall said they will take walk-ins when space allows.
