Most of the furniture and photo frames were painted
white by the ladies of It’s All Arranged in Ocean Springs. The only dark furniture is in Conn’s upstairs office and the one piece she salvaged after Hurricane Katrina.
The stunning kitchen and den continue the white look but again have enough texture and personality to keep things interesting. The large island is
topped with marble and surrounded by stools with
a distressed finish. The dining table has an unusual painted finish that’s complimented by fabric covered Parson’s chairs.
Shiplap is used on several of the home’s walls, including the wall behind the bed in the master bedroom. The white and cream colors create a relaxing environment. A chaise lounge sits under the sloping roof of the porch that was enclosed. A spacious bathroom adjoins the bedroom on one side and on another is Conn’s “working closet” holding clothes and shoes and her Pascagoula High School cheerleader uniform on display.
The upstairs has a “hang out area” on the landing, two bedrooms, a bathroom and an office. A collection of son Taylor’s shoes and baseballs make it personal, and a puzzle with a candy design surrounded by real candy wrappers make it fun. Conn’s office sports two vintage hats that she had converted into lamp shades. One of the bedrooms has old photos of Pascagoula landmarks (Conn’s hometown).
The back porch wraps around two sides of the house and overlooks a lovely lawn. The covered sitting
area features a 100-year-old mantle, chairs and a stone table. And of course there are shoes, shells, old gardening gloves and plants to give it zest.
