Victory comes in all shapes and sizes, and for Mikey Pfarrer, victory came in the form of two monster subs.
Gulfport’s Monster Subs & Sandwiches has been open for five years, and in all that time, no one had every conquered the Monster Challenge. Aptly named, the challenge is to consume two monster subs in less than 25 minutes. This is no easy task as each monster sub includes a full pound of meat and cheese. Including the bread, lettuce, and three other vegetable toppings
(challenger’s choice), each individual sandwich weighs nearly four pounds.
“Nine people have attempted the challenge before Mikey,
but no one had completed it in time,” said Monster Subs co- owner Alex Roberts. “This was Mikey’s first attempt, and he finished it with only seconds to spare.”
If you’re feeling brave, head to Downtown Gulfport to give the Monster Challenge a try! Roberts is hopeful that Mikey won’t be the challenge’s only victor.
