tucked away along the beach in Pascagoula is the home of Ginger and Jason Keenum. The exterior of the home has a distinctly modern feel, but
you might be surprised to learn that the original house plan was for a Tuscan-themed home. “The floor plan itself was perfect for us, but we were going for a more modern and clean look,” Ginger said.
The Keenums took great pride in making sure the house fit the bill down to every detail. Each aspect of the house is well thought out, and it’s impossible to miss the attention that went into the home. They built the home over the course of a year and a half, with Ginger at the helm making decisions both creative and architectural.
While it might seem strange for a homeowner to have so much control of their home build, Ginger became a true professional over the course of the home’s construction. From laying out the rooms of the house to ensure each room had a perfect view to hand-selecting materials, she put her heart into each decision. It’s clear from speaking with them that Jason could not be more proud of his wife’s
hard work.
Upon entering the home from the front entrance, guests
are immediately met with one of the home’s most stand-out light fixtures. Overhead in the foyer is an industrial fixture with hanging bulbs that light up the inlaid wood. The wood inlay is the same as the hardwood throughout the house, which is a mixed-width reclaimed wood from an old Jim Beam whiskey distillery.
Guests may also be met by two of the Keenum’s extended family members, their Roombas (robotic vaccum cleaners) Greta and Peppa. These two are as beloved as the family pets! According to Ginger, they are emptied twice a day to keep up with the hair from their two dogs and three cats.
To the left of the foyer is the home’s living and entertaining space. The Keenums enjoy hosting friends as well as dinners for organizations such as the Bacot McCarty Foundation. In fact, the majority of the artwork throughout the house was purchased at the Jolly McCarty Memorial Gala Reception. The bright pops of color from the artwork are juxtaposed against the clean and contemporary style of the home, creating an exciting contrast.
