offering that stood out was the Tailgate Fries: house smoked pulled pork, more of that famous sauce, and jalapenos on top of a hefty portion of French fries. If you are in the mood for seafood, try a dozen half-shell oysters on a bed of ice, a crab burger that looked wonderful, Royal Reds served with drawn butter and fresh French bread, seafood bread smothered in Provolone cheese, and famous house made gumbo.
The Crawfish House is making everything from scratch, so if you arrive late expect some items to be sold out. But that’s a good thing, right? Nothing is coming out of a can; everything is made fresh.
The Crawfish House has a good vibe to it. Its outdoor tables help celebrate the wonderful weather we have most of the year in South Mississippi, but there are plenty of umbrellas
if you need to get out of the sun. There is also a covered area and a pretty cool little bar.
The colors are bright and Caribbean, the menus are posted on easy-to-see chalk boards, and don’t forget to look for the daily specials. On the day I visited, those specials included a crawfish platter for $16.99 that included corn, potatoes, and sausage; a homemade bread pudding for just $5; char broiled oysters; and snow crab legs.
It’s easy to like this place. The food is good, honest, and straight forward. It has a comfortable feel to it and the people here are having fun. Bring some friends, grab a table and relax. You are going to think you have landed in the islands for a sunny afternoon of good food and fun.
