to heal itself in certain situations,” commented Dr. Brashier. “I see my job as a surgeon — to assist the body in it’s own natural ability to heal — by removing the offending pathology and placing the body in an optimal situation for healing. What I like most about my job is being a part of this healing process to completion. It’s always a great experience when someone thanks you for what you have done for them.”
Dr. Brashier also believes in treating his patients just as he would treat those he loves “I try to talk to my patients like they are my family members, and I give them the same advice that I would give my own family.”
When first moving to the Coast, he wasted no time in meeting and developing professional relationships with our local physicians. “Medicine and Surgery are a team endeavor and having these relationships are important
to my patients. I knew several of the doctors in this area before moving here which helped me get settled in very quickly.” Even though Dr. Brashier has been in practice for several years he adds “Learning a new medical system can be a challenging undertaking to a new physician in the area, more daunting of a task for me due to the fact that I work at two of the hospitals here on the Coast”.
He practices with South Mississippi Surgeons in both Biloxi and Ocean Springs. He operates at both Ocean Springs Hospital and Merit Health Care in Biloxi and performs a variety of surgeries ranging from emergency to elective procedures. He also enjoys the opportunity to operate with the daVinci robotic surgery method.
“The robot allows for even more precision of surgery,”

he added. “The field of view given by the robot is incredible and more three dimensional than traditional laparoscopy.” Not only does it help him visualize the anatomy better but also allows him for better access to certain surgical sites, and oftentimes robotic assisted surgery decreases the actual surgical time and can lead to faster recoveries.
Dr. Brashier is looking forward to adding more interests and hobbies to his already vast array. Living close to
the water has already provided him a new challenge in learning the Biloxi Back Bay’s water patterns. He also hopes to have an opportunity to learn to saltwater fish soon. He enjoys exploring the Back Bay with his wife, Karen, and son Conway on their pontoon boat. This spring, they will add a daughter to their family.
“This area has so many different things to do and people to meet,” he added. “It’s been a great move for us, and we are happy to be part of this community.”
