GIVING BACK
The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) was founded in 2003 with a mission to uphold the sanctity of life while encouraging the physical, emotional, educational and spiritual wellbeing of the whole person. They see between 85 and 100 people each week.
“Through collaborating with organizations that share similar values, we work to promote personal health, strong family units, and thriving communities,” says Director Susan K. Jones.
The staff includes R.N. Karen McGill and ultrasound technician Megan Wack. Volunteers are R.N. Traci Easterling and physician assistant Lee Matthews. The medical team is overseen by Dr. Don Gaddy, local obstetrician.
The Center provides medical resources such as pregnancy tests and ultrasounds; educational resources such as the Empowered Parent Program, which includes 11 weekly classes and a men’s Bible study; and material resources including diapers, wipes, clothing, new car seats and equipment.
“One negative misconception of pregnancy help centers is that all we want to do is save the baby and that we don’t care about

the mother and father,” Jones says. “At WRC we are mentoring whole families each week from the time of confirmed pregnancy until the child is two years old. Over the past year and a half, we have included men in our classes. We see generational changes happening every day.”
Jones says the WRC is seeing more women wanting information about the abortion pill, which is ordered by mail. “The pills are sent to their homes after answering a few quick questions and paying a fee. The abortions are performed at home by themselves without any medical oversight. At WRC, we give them answers to all of their questions and hopefully help them choose life for their unborn babies.”
