If you are coming for seafood, get ready for a treat! You can have shrimp fried
or boiled, Dungeness crabs, crab cakes (there is even a crab cake on the appetizer menu for just $6), or a seafood or oyster platter. If you are really hungry, go for the Captain’s Platter. It includes a whole lobster, boiled shrimp, Dungeness crab, corn and potatoes.
If you want to try a locally famous po- boy, there are six choices. If you want to stay with the seafood theme, try a shrimp, oyster, or crab cake po-boy. You can also get your po-boy loaded with ribeye, chicken, or sausage.
This menu touches on a bit of everything — too much to recount here — but you will also find pasta specials, kids meals, soup, salads and great desserts.
Captain Al’s is located on Magnolia Street, just off Cowan Road at the Gulfport Lake bridge, near the former Kemper Marine site. It’s a short drive from the Interstate and not far at all from Highway 90. There is plenty of parking, seating on the balcony for good weather, a big dining room, and a half circle bar that is pretty cool. The atmosphere is casual, just a bit tropical, and as about as coastal as you can get.
