GULFPORT TOUR OF HOMES
kicks off holidays
story by Lynn Lofton
Agreat way to kick off the holidays is with the annual tour
of homes presented by the Civic League of Gulfport. This year’s tour will be held December 3 from 2 until 5 p.m. Four beautiful homes in the Second Street neighborhood will be featured.
“The main purpose of this event is to raise money for those in our community who have special needs,” said Jennifer Villarreal, Civic League publicity chairman. “In the past, proceeds from the Tour of Homes have gone towards swings in Jones Park that are specifically designed for children with special needs, as well as towards scholarships for students seeking degrees that will further benefit those with special needs.”
This year’s tour homes are those of Sandra and George Boddie, 1124 2nd Street; Kim and Glen Harriel, 1540 Pratt Avenue; Leigh and Kenneth Jones, 919 2nd Street; and Nicole Faulk, 645 2nd Street. Refreshments will be served at Grass Lawn, 720 East Beach Boulevard.
Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased from members of the Gulfport Civic League or at the door of homes on the tour.

It’s not Christmas without The Nutcracker ballet, and it’s coming to local audiences on December 2 and 3 at the Beau Rivage Theatre. Performance times are 7 p.m. on December 2 and 3 p.m. on December 3. The Mississippi Gulf Coast Ballet Theatre, a local non-profit organization comprised of volunteer art enthusiasts and amateur dancers, is producing The Nutcracker.
This production will feature two of the world’s best professional ballet stars, Sarah Lane and Joseph Michael Gaddi, in the roles of the Prince and Clara. Lane was the ballet double for Natalie Portman in the movie Black Swan. Gaddi is an international ballet master and recently returned from touring in Europe and South America.
The ballet will also feature the talents of local ballet students, including a troupe of dancers from The Dance and Gymnastics Studio in Pascagoula and The Gulf Coast School of Performing Arts. Playing the role of Clara will
be Anna Cat Kendricks, a local ballerina who trained with prestigious artists and instructors in Florida and New York.
