Each year, the Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival partners with Blue Moon® beer to create official artwork used during the weekend- long event. Artists across Mississippi express their interpretations of what Blue Moon® means to them for the chance to have their art featured on festival cups,shirts and posters.
This year’s featured artwork, “Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose” was the winner of the 2018 contest and was painted by Saucier artist
Elizabeth Huffmaster. Huffmaster specializes mainly in original art, acrylics, watercolor and gouache. “Art is not really a job or a hobby, it’s just a passion I have,” added Huffmaster.
For the contest piece, Huffmaster wanted to paint “her typical animals” but also mix in a few new ones while incorporating the Blue Moon beer carton.“A lot of people have used the beer bottle and
the moon, but no one had used the carton,” she said. “I thought I’d try something with the carton
and added the little gator, turtle and the frog,” which are using the carton to move down the river.
Huffmaster is no stranger to contests. She previously entered the Blue Moon Art Project six times and has done many posters and images for other events. “For me it gets harder every year because I’m kind of competing with myself,” she adds.“I’m always trying to come up with a new concept.”
A festival vendor for almost 20 years, Huffmaster will be selling posters of the winning piece and her other artwork during this year’s
