Fielder works mainly with organic shapes, the hues and textures echoing the forms and colors she sees in nature.“I love all colors and enjoy observing forms in our existence here – a seed bursting from the earth, a fish alive with
its glitter of color, a microscopic pattern,” Fielder remarked.
“My wish is that my work would embody these precious, miraculous moments in life.”
After three decades working with clay, Fielder is still excited when the kiln lid opens.“The clay
experiment is still in progress,” she said.“From the concept on paper to construction and glaze testing, I never stop learning and discovering the diversity of this media.”
On Sunday afternoon of the festival, winners received plaques complete with Shearwater tiles and cash prizes. The items were displayed at the winners’ booths for the remainder of the show.
Award winners for the 2019 festival will be presented on Sunday afternoon, November 3, the
second day of the event.
