because our business has tripled from what it was four years ago.”
The small plates menu offers selections for vegetarians such as Caprese salad, house-made hummus, falafel and a decadent spinach and artichoke dip. But the center of the tapas menu is what Quave said is a “best-selling item,” the curry chickpea samosas. There is a good reason why the dish is so popular.
“We locally source the samosas,” he said. “There’s a
woman in Ocean Springs who makes each one by hand and delivers them to us. We worked on the sauce to come up with something slightly sweet with a little kick.”
The samosas come four in a large bowl covered with the curry chickpea sauce. The samosas are stuffed with curried potatoes and are fork-tender. The chickpea sauce is an excellent accompaniment with its silky coconut milk base.
Quave is also very proud of the seared tuna plate. It’s sushi- grade tuna that has been lightly seared and served with seaweed salad, pickled ginger and green onion aioli. The plate presentation is exceptional, with the ruby-red tuna pieces neatly arranged on top of the aioli. The seared tuna is one of several seafood offerings on the tapas menu.
We also tried the hummus plate and the falafel plate, both of which were great offerings for vegetarians. The house-made hummus was light and melt-in-your-mouth creamy. It was not the over-garlicky store variety. The falafel was also really good, especially on top of the house-made tzatziki sauce. Mosaic is a food lover’s paradise with dishes that are well- crafted by people that love food.
But as Quave said, Mosaic has something for everyone. This

includes live music seven days a week and a cocktail menu created by mixologist Andre Cassagne. There are classic cocktails such as an Old Fashioned and Mint Julep as well as a wide selection of mojitos and other specialty cocktails. And last but not least, there’s The Beer House, which is a great place to watch the big game, especially if the big game features the New Orleans Saints. Williams’ father, Del Williams, was a member of the original 1967 team.
“We have a great logo for The Beer House, Quave said. “It’s a skull with a Fleur-de-lis. We have 45 craft beers on tap and a wide selection of hard-to-find imports and other beers in cans and bottles. We want to be the go-to place for craft beer on the Coast.”
