It’s Anchors Aweigh and Good Times Ahead at the 36th annual Toast to the Coast benefitting Coast Episcopal School on October 18 beginning at 7 p.m. This popular Coast event will be held at 635 East Scenic Drive in Pass Christian with food from more than 30 local restaurants.
School spokeswoman Melissa Brown said, “Coast Episcopal School invites you to hoist your sails and set course
to the stunning grounds of Mr. and Mrs. Jan van Meerveld’s home. Bring your Skipper, First Mate, or even your whole crew to Toast to the Coast for a fun-filled evening.”
In addition to the outstanding food, there will be an auction, art, and music by D-Play. The gallery tent will feature the flavors of the best restaurants on the Coast. The silent auction will present items collected
from celebrated artisans and local businesses.
“New this year is a port of call,
a one-night-only Gail Keenan Art Center Pop-Up Art Gallery which will showcase fine art from acclaimed Gulf Coast artists,” Brown said.
Coast Episcopal School, established in 1950, is an independent school serving toddler, preschool, and kindergarten through seventh grade.

The response has been phenomenal since The Roost Boutique Hotel opened in April 2017 on Porter Avenue in Ocean Springs, according to co-owner Roxanne Condrey.
“We really wanted our hotel to represent the art, culture and history of Ocean Springs. We took that to heart,” Condrey said. “We want it to be a representation of what the city is so when people come visit, they get an idea of how special Ocean Springs is.”
Shortly after opening, the owners realized the hotel “was busting at the seams” Condrey said, and by June 2018, they had added ve more rooms that all carry local themes. The Wilbur,
a speakeasy-inspired craft cocktail and wine bar, was opened in the fall. Its name
pays homage to when the 125-year-old property was known as The Wilbur Motel and Motor Court.
Eat Drink Love, which provides meals at The Roost, also serves appetizers at The Wilbur.
The national accolades keep coming in – best designed hotel in the state by House Beautiful, among six most beautiful new hotels in the South and the most beautiful hotel in every state by Architectural Digest, part
of the Ultimate Mississippi Road Trip by National Geographic, and many more.
“We’ve been honored by
these publications because I don’t expect people to mention Ocean Springs, this little dot on the Coast,” Condrey said.
