For Dr. Brice McMurphy, the dental field was something that was in his DNA. When he graduated Biloxi High School in 2005, the now-orthodontist said that becoming a dentist was what he had always dreamed of. The son of a dental hygienist, he wanted to follow in the larger- than-life footsteps of his uncle, popular pediatric dentist Dr. Buddy Brice.

“My uncle has been a pediatric dentist for a long time on the Gulf Coast,” McMurphy said. “Going to the dentist as a kid meant going to see Uncle Buddy – it was fun. I saw the life it provided for him and I looked up to him. He was my first inspiration and then I stuck with
it through college. Orthodontics is what I was always drawn to. It’s
very competitive and it’s a great way to build relationships with patients and their families.”
After graduating from high school, he headed to Baton Rouge to get his undergraduate degree. After LSU, McMurphy attended dental school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He then returned to Baton Rouge where he
completed two years of a General Practice Residency, serving as Chief Resident his final year. The next three years he spent at the Georgia School of Orthodontics in Atlanta. Dr. McMurphy also worked as a general dentist for five years in various private practices throughout his residencies. After receiving his orthodontic certificate he returned
