Richard Lorenz and his wife T’Louise Willis are the embodiment of the term power couple. These two incredibly talented artists from Louisiana came together to create one studio: Silent Echoes. While Willis specializes in photography and inspirational writing, Lorenz focuses on digital painting. Lorenz was born in Germany, but currently resides in Louisiana. He is completely self-taught in the art of digital painting.
Digital painting is a technique that has become increasingly popular as technology has advanced. Lorenz’s artwork is virtually created, from his beginning sketches until the final brush stroke. To create his images, he uses a digital Wacom tablet and a digital painting program called Corel Painter. As a

representation of the painting process,” said Lorenz. “However, unlike photography, digital painting will never replace traditional oil and acrylic painting. These traditional painting mediums enjoy a large place next to their more contemporary digital companions.
“The digital painting category is simply a new painting medium.
And, like it or not, it is here to stay. Digital painting
as a category should represent virtual paintings akin to paintings executed with traditional painting mediums.”
According to Lorenz, digital painting is another medium for artists to explore.“Most digital painters I know have extraordinary abilities and
talents in many of the traditional fields of painting, and have digital painting as a new medium to the arsenal of tools available to them.”
Lorenz’s work focuses heavily on
virtual paint brush, he employs the use of a stylus.
