music every Friday and Saturday and is a great way to get to hear music from bands along the Gulf Coast. Aside from their entertainment, The Grocery is known and loved by locals for their Grocery fries, which are thick cut fries smothered in Rotel cheese, chili, jalapenos, sour cream and onions.
Next door to The Government Street Grocery is Murky Waters, a barbecue restaurant and bar with a passion for the blues. Their barbecue is dry-rubbed and smoked with local Pecan wood to give it the perfect flavor. Their barbecue plates are perfectly paired with a cold brew and a taste of the blues.
The newest restaurant in town, Off the Hook is located in the first block of Government Street off Washington Avenue. They specialize in fresh gulf seafood. Their back patio is situated in the heart of downtown, ideal for an afternoon appetizer while enjoying live music or karoke.
Known this time of year as a great place to watch football games is Kwitzky’s Dugout. Often times featuring live music, this establishment is a great place to relax and enjoy the views of downtown.
There are many other nightlife venues to visit for great food, drinks and entertainment including Soigne, Salvetti’s Italian Restaurant, Greenhouse on Porter, Val’s, The Shed BBQ and many more. Grab a town guide from the Visitor Center for a complete listing.
