Mariah Stewart spent most of her childhood in a hair salon. She’d spend days with her mom at the hair salon she worked
at, watching her mother bring joy to her clientele. “The legacy behind my new salon Hair Rx was from the name my mom would have used had she opened her own salon,” Stewart explains. “To this day her license plate and mine is HAIR RX.”
After working in the field for almost 14 years, Stewart had the opportunity to open her own salon. “Knowing I made even a small contribution to a great experience, enhancing their moment while sitting in my chair, is extremely satisfying,” she says. Stewart loves making her clients happy in a relaxing, beautiful, and modern atmosphere, all while providing a therapeutic setting.

Kim Cospelich
Owner
Deen’s Florist was opened in 1969 and through family, Owner Kim Cospelich acquired the business and added the snowball stand in 1988, which is now Sticky Fingers. “I later expanded the florist and gift shop by adding West Side Nutrition, a specialty tea shop,” Cospelich says. “Essentially, one business developed into three ventures.”
Living in close proximity to her business enabled her to raise her children at home while earning income. “Having a local business allowed me to develop great relationships within my community and I have enjoyed getting to know my customers personally,” she says. “It is so very important that you trust and support local businesses to meet your needs because spending your money within your community benefits and stimulates your local economy. It is an investment our livelihood.”
