It’s hard to think of a more delightful lunch spot on the Coast than Eat Drink Love in Ocean Springs. Doesn’t the name say it all? Owners Lauren and Seth Braden have been in the business for a while. You might remember them at their previous location where they specialized in take home meals (they still call it Take and Bake) and catering.
The new location, snuggled under beautiful Live Oak trees in one of the most picturesque parts of the city, has plenty of inside and outside seating, and one of the best petite menus on
the Coast. Start your visit (and to get
it right it should be a leisurely one) with the turnip greens and artichoke dip, or the shrimp scampi dip. Both are wonderful and good enough to share with a friend, or keep all to yourself.
I also must mention the charcuterie tray, not only because it’s so good, but because so few local restaurants offer this outstanding idea of a lot of tasty things on one plate. What is on the tray
will vary, but during my visit it was composed of caper dill deviled eggs, Brie with caramelized onions, crostini with peperoni, pimento and cheese, and fire roasted tomato and artichokes.
There are half a dozen sandwiches to choose from, and I’ve got to tell you, they are all good. The ham and brie is making a name for itself, as is the roast beef, and the turkey pesto wrap, but I had the grass-fed burger, topped with house made pimento and cheese, and just can’t wait to go back for another. This may well be one of the best burgers I have ever had.
If you’re in a hurry but want to feed your family well, then the Take and Bake menu might be just what you’ve been looking for. Again, the menu may change a bit, but I saw three soups, four sides, and six main dishes, and as with everything else at this great little place, absolutely everything looked good. Italian meatball soup, spicy crab bites, a huge chicken pot pie, double
