What would you like our readers to know about your business? Most people are under the impression that an estate sale is only appropriate when there has been a death and the estate must be liquidated to satisfy the terms of a legal situation. There are so many more valid reasons for one to consider an estate sale as an option to aid them in achieving their goals. We have done estate sales for retiring couples that want to travel and simplify their lives by downsizing, a family moving to another state and decided to have a “fresh start” instead of going
to the expense of hauling all of their possessions to the other side of the country, clients who have decided to move into an assisted living retirement community, are a few examples.
Estate sales, of course is our core business, but we also provide services that can help immensely with preparing for future events. One service I highly recommend is a home inventory. I’ll never forget after Hurricane Katrina, everyone scrambling to recall all of the possessions in their homes for the insurance forms and
claims. A home inventory can be customized to fit the client’s needs whether it is prepared for the purposes of natural disaster, death, divorce, asset division and so on. Personal property appraisal service and of course we have a beautiful showroom in old town Bay Saint Louis full of antiques, vintage items and collectibles.
What do you like best about what you do? I find great satisfaction in being able to ease the anxiety of my clients and creating order from (what most
clients feel is) chaos. Prepping for the sale and researching the items to be sold and the energy and excitement of the estate sale itself.
Tell us about one valuable lesson you learned along the way: That the vast majority of us will find ourselves in a position where we have to be responsible for the care and best interest of a loved one or dear friend. I’ve never encountered a client that was not overwhelmed by it. It’s best to recognize in advance for whom you might be responsible and be pro-active in preparing for it.
