PETER
ANDERSON
T-shirts available now
story by Lynn Lofton
The Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival always has an artistic t-shirt to commemorate the event, and this year is no exception. Well known Ocean Springs artist Stig Marcussen designed this year’s shirt for the 37th annual event to be held November 7 and 8 in downtown Ocean Springs.
“We are excited to have Stig Marcussen produce the festival t-shirt design. He has close ties to the Anderson family legacy,” said Cynthia Dobbs Sutton, events and public relations manager for the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau. “He’s an active artist in the community and went to the Fresh Market for inspiration for the t-shirt.”
Beginning in September, shoppers have the
option of buying the shirts online at www. peterandersonfestival.com. “That will be a great way to get the shirts shipped directly to customers in advance of the festival weekend,” Sutton said.
T-shirts will also be available for purchase at the festival while supplies last.

Lynn Meadows Discovery Center invites girls and their friends and families to experience the American Girl Fashion Show October 16, 17, and 18. This fun, engaging program showcases historical and contemporary fashions for girls and their dolls. Proceeds from the event will benefit Lynn Meadows Discovery Center and help support exhibits and programming for the museum and the WINGS Performing Arts program.
Approximately 130 local models will present the fashions, while lively commentary, music, and decorations will create a memorable experience for those attending. Audiences will delight in historical clothing, from daywear to sleepwear to special occasion clothing, that resembles what the popular American Girl characters Kaya, Caroline, Josefina, Addy, Rebecca, Kit, and Julie might have worn. Contemporary “Just Like You” outfits for older girls and sweet Little Girl fashions for little ones complete the program.
The event also includes refreshments, party favors, a raffle, and door prizes.
Show times are: October 16 at 6 p.m.; October 17 at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m.; and October 18 at 12 noon and 4 p.m.
