New restaurants bring more dining options to Ocean Springs

cean Springs just might be the culinary epicenter of the Gulf Coast food scene. There are a double handful of well- known restaurants from fine dining in
a modern American style to great pizza, tasty sweets and a killer hamburger. But
the options seem to keep growing! Just in the past few months there has been a fine new crop of good eateries; all different and all with exciting culinary options.
The Greenhouse on Porter is the place for you if you’re interested in a good cup of coffee, tea, or a cold beer; if casual conversation is also on your list and you’re a fan of great homemade biscuits with some of the best jams and and toppings you can imagine. The biscuits and cookies are made fresh every morning. The sign out front says it all: “Biscuits, Beer, and Coffee.”
Sassy Salads recently opened on Washington Avenue and offers a refreshingly light and healthy menu, made fresh to order. If you’re thinking of a green salad with a few lonely slices of tomato, then think again! These
salads are packed with shrimp, ham, cheese, crawfish, turkey, chicken and salmon. There are more than a dozen dressings and more than 20 add-ons if you want to customize your salad. The fried oyster salad really got my attention with a ton of fried oysters on a bed
of romaine, green leaf and iceberg lettuce, lots of fresh tomatoes, Colby jack cheese, red onions, and crunchy croutons.
On the other end of the culinary spectrum is Nigel’s Soulful Bistro. The menu changes every day and everything is made from scratch. This is Southern inspired food fused with whatever whim the chef finds himself interested in. Think barbeque with a Jamaican rum punch twist, the best fried chicken and waffles
