t the heart of Petro Chevrolet Cadillac’s business model is a commitment to community. After watching his father work in the car business, Tony Petro, owner of Petro Chevrolet Cadillac, understands the importance of building
relationships with community residents.
Originally from Hattiesburg, Petro was quickly charmed by
the unique culture of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and knew he wanted to establish roots here. In 2018, Petro expanded his business to Pascagoula and has since worked to provide the surrounding areas with quality service and an enjoyable shopping experience.
In an effort to create lasting relationships with customers, Petro Chevrolet Cadillac believes in transparency. “We’re getting rid of the old stigma of the car dealer. The way we advertise and market our product, everything is up front,” Petro said, explaining the dealership’s unique sales tactics. The dealership hopes that this transparency will create an easy and enjoyable shopping experience for the customer.
Petro also stresses the importance of giving back to
the greater coastal community. “The South Mississippi community has been very good to us, our business, and my family. I want to give back and be able to help out to make
the Gulf Coast area a better place to live. We can’t do it all, but we can do a lot.”
Since opening, Petro Chevrolet Cadillac has actively supported various community organizations, including the Pascagoula Youth Softball League, the American Heart Association, and William Carey’s Tradition Campus, among others. The dealership believes in forging lasting relationships with coastal organizations in an effort to give back and support residents of the local communities.
Petro understands the significance of these local relationships for business owners. “Pascagoula is a close knit community where people try to take care
of one another. People look after each other and look after the city.” The dealership wants to play its part by minimizing fine print, offering deals, and providing residents with a shopping experience that will have them coming back.
Ultimately, Petro Chevrolet Cadillac attracts customers from across the Gulf South so that revenue remains in the local community and the state. The dealership’s presence and success makes significant contributions to community economic development.
