NBC 25 and the Jackson County Animal Shelter have teamed up to “Clear the Shelters” on Saturday, August 17. On that day, adoption fees will be waved for all Jackson County animals with the goal of placing as many animals in forever homes as possible.
Animal shelters on the Gulf Coast are continuously over capacity and there is a critical need for adoptive families. All week leading up to the event NEWS 25 will feature adoptable pets and adoption stories in our newscasts.
Audiences can tune in to NBC 25 on Saturday, August 24 to watch a special 30-minute “Clear the Shelters” special that
will recap the Clear the Shelters campaign. NBC’s Jane Lynch will host the special that will air at 6:30 p.m. and will feature
the most memorable moments from NBC’s fourth annual pet adoption campaign. Audiences will also get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes for shelters and rescues to prepare for Clear the Shelters Day, and the special care that shelter staff put into their work to help pets transition from shelters to new homes.
Since 2015, the Clear the Shelters campaign has resulted in over 240,000 pet adoptions nationwide.
