ach year the Humane Society of South Mississippi provides care for nearly 8,000 homeless and lost dogs and cats. On any given day the shelter has 300
homeless pets. The HSSM mission is to save and enhance the lives of pets through cooperative and innovative approaches to pet adoption, spay/neuter, sheltering and community engagement.
As a non-profit organization, HSSM depends on the support of the community to fund its lifesaving programs and services. That’s why there are fundraising events and solicitations of donations of cash and items. By donating and/or participating in events, each resident of the community can play a role in fulfilling the organization’s mission.
“We always have a long list of needs and welcome all donations,” HSSM Executive Director Jill Mollohan said. “We invite everyone to get involved and be a part of this lifesaving mission.”
Upcoming fundraising events include:
Bark in the Park — August 15 at MGM Stadium in Biloxi, starting at 7 p.m. Come out with your pet and enjoy a “dog’s day out” at a Shucker’s baseball game. Rock ‘N Roll-Over — September 18 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Hard Rock Live. This event is HSSM’s biggest fundraiser of the year. There will be gourmet food, silent auctions, and Adorable Adoptables as special
guests. Tickets can be purchased at hssm.org. “We can always use gift cards from pet
supply stores, office supply stores, and gas
stations,” said Krystyna Schmitt, HSSM marketing specialist.
Pixie is currently up for adoption at Humane Society of South Mississippi.
