A family business that began in 1964 in Gulfport is still going strong with the third generation. The late Curtis Compton opened Compton & Son Appliance 35 years ago as a service department which later transitioned into focusing on the sale of appliances.
The business recently added 3,000 square feet of showroom space for outdoor living for a total of 8,000 square feet of appliance showroom. High end patio furniture is included with such internationally known brands as Thermador, Viking, Sub-Zero and Wolf.
“We can create the beautiful outdoor areas that are so popular now,” said Jill Compton, who along with

She says the third generation is now involved in the business, showing stability in the community. “We are professionally trained and knowledgable of available products,” she said. “We’re here to help.”
