HOME art and fun
the fireplace in the family room; three trays of spray painted shells — one gold, one silver and one white. There are modern touches: clear lucite kitchen bar stools and lucite chairs with a glass table

a mantle. Finally, there’s what can only be described as fun: a tall stack of collected cigar boxes; and a photo wall that wraps around a corner.
Wall and drapery colors used throughout are a soft blue-gray which are a perfect backdrop for artwork. The Seghers’ French heritage is reflected in many things in their home and in the spelling of their names.
Dreux designed the stair rail that ascends to the second floor master bedroom. Not surprisingly there are fleur de lis painted on the stair risers. “You can’t take New Orleans out of us,” Lucie said. “Dreux did a lot of work on our Creole guest cottage too.”
The guest cottage is not alone in the back yard. There’s a playhouse with a Dutch door, a carport covered with two kinds of jasmine, a chicken coop that’s home to four hens and one rooster, and a fairy garden. “I get incredible pleasure from the plants, rocks and mushrooms in the fairy garden,” Lucie says. >>
