ow more than ever, people are aware of the importance of disinfecting and sanitizing everything we touch.
Coronavirus has spread across the globe, heightening e orts to keep the surfaces that surround us clean and virus free. One local company is tackling this task head on, and doing it in an eco-friendly way.
Just Like New has been in the restoration industry for more than 30 years. While their bread and butter is overspray removal, the company o ers a long list of services. Those who haven’t required their services before are ocking in, drawn by their disinfectant and decontamination services, which are in high demand.
“We started out with vehicle reconditioning, but decontamination was a natural next step for us,” says owner Gregg Goodhart. “After all, the average steering wheel hosts nine times more bacteria than a public toilet seat.”
With COVID-19 reaching our community, Goodhart has seen a rise in businesses looking for decontamination services. “We’ve been expanding into
larger businesses, namely companies such as Chevron and Mississippi Power who are looking for eco-friendly, non-toxic options to sanitize their buildings.”
Just Like New uses a product called PermaSafe SHIELD, an antimicrobial that, once cured, boasts perpetual disinfectant properties for up to six months. While conventional disinfectants and antimicrobials kill microbes by poisoning them with toxic chemicals, PermaSafe works by drawing negatively charged microbes into the positively charged antimicrobial surface, causing the microbes’ cell walls to rupture and vaporize.
“We use specialized fogging equipment to provide 360 degree coverage of the area, and protecting for every surface,” Goodhart said. “Not only does it decontaminate these surfaces, it also serves as a surface protectant, repelling liquids and making treated areas easier to clean – even fabrics.”
PermaSafe is, as it sounds, very safe to use and is completely harmless to humans and pets.
