There’ll be Fireflies and Starry Nights: Shining Bright for the Kids on June 28 at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino when the Junior Auxiliary of the Biloxi-Ocean Springs has their annual gala.
“This event is crucial for supporting our programs and mission. We invite everyone to join us for a wonderful night of food, drinks, and entertainment,” says Victoria Conway, public relations chairman. “Your participation helps us continue making a difference in the lives of children and families in our community. By supporting our events and joining our cause, you can play an important role in enhancing the lives of those who need it most.”
Black tie is encouraged, and there will be live entertainment, food, a cash bar, silent auction and split the Pot, which was over $30,000 last year. JA’s first charity ball was held in 1980.
The Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi-Ocean Springs is a volunteer-based organization focused on making a positive and lasting impact in the local communities by a commitment to providing charitable services to a wide demographic of families and children.

Catch the 10th annual Pirate Day in the Bay, a weekend celebration in Old Town Bay St. Louis, May 16-17. Hosted by the Mystic Krewe of the Seahorse, the festivities begin Friday with pirates gathering for
a whimsical skit outlining the inspiration behind the Krewe, followed by a lighthearted pirate pub crawl and treasure hunt throughout local establishments.
Craft vendors will be set up both days. Saturday is family-friendly, featuring a children’s walking parade, play zone, and pirate costume contest for all ages. The evening kicks off with a pirate invasion golf cart parade, live music, and a fireworks finale at 9 p.m.
Pirate Day in the Bay has earned several accolades, including Number 27 on Travel Lemming’s “150 Best Things to Do This Summer” for 2023; Best Spring Festival in Mississippi Magazine’s Best of Mississippi Travel 2022; an M-List winner in Mississippi Magazine’s Best of Travel 2021; and a Top 20 Event from the Southeast Tourism Society in 2021.
