You’ve no doubt heard the Gollott name associated with seafood.
After all, the Gollott seafood business began all the
way back in 1932. Four generations later, Shawn Gollott and his wife Lilian Perez-Gollott started their own venture: Gollott’s Fresh Catch.
The two opened the restaurant in 2018 with the goal of making every customer who walked through the doors feel at home. Gollott’s Fresh Catch does just that, serving up home cooked meals and Southern hospitality. In fact, many of the recipes are from Gollott’s own mother, Trudy. Just look for her name in the menu!
“Our slogan is ‘your seafood, your neighbor, your backyard,’” said Gollott. “Giving people that welcoming feeling is our genuine intention, whether you are a local or tourist. We pride ourselves on being authentic.”
And an authentic coastal experience is exactly what people have come to know and love about Fresh Catch. The restaurant is actually pretty famous for their hot boiled crawfish, which any Southerner knows is a big deal considering how polarizing crawfish
boils can be. Paired with an ice cold Abita Andygator, you’ve got the recipe for the perfect afternoon.
Another specialty is the SMG7, which feeds four. The SMG7 is named after Gollott and Perez-Gollott’s son, Shawn Miquel Gollott. The number seven is
a lucky number for both father and son. The SMG7 includes four clusters of snow craw legs, a full pound of royal reds and an additional pound of butterflied shrimp, all boiled to perfection in Fresh Catch’s house seasonings.
Both owners are known by their staff as a very hands-on and dedicated. Gollott makes a point to put his eyes on every dish that leaves the kitchen and makes sure every customer is taken care of. “He is a truly dedicated, hardworking and genuine boss and owner,” said Perez-Gollott. “He works tirelessly to be successful, all to support our family.”
