the date she married her husband.
The beautiful time piece pendants have
inspired many other customers to create similar commemorative items, but these are far from
their only projects. One customer brought in her mother’s old watch, which had a stone-encrusted ornate band, but a small and unseemly watch face, and had a custom bracelet created instead.
“We brought out a tray with a selection of cut stones to show her, and together we decided
on a 6.46 karat cushion cut Blue Zircon,” said Edwards. “The design of the setting was ultimately determined by the case of the watch, but we were able to create something that the client would wear that still held true to the original piece and the memory of her mother.”
Each custom designed piece is special and unique, an honor that Edwards doesn’t take lightly. “It takes a lot of trust to hand over something so meaningful to someone else,” she said. “That’s why we take our relationships with our customers so seriously. Throughout the process, they become our friends and we want to make something that they will love, wear and cherish.”
With every new project, the Pav & Broome team becomes intimately acquainted with the client
and their story. After all, the story of the jewelry
is a vital part of what the design will ultimately become. “Hearing the story of each piece is often very emotional,” Edwards said. “You can sense how attached the customer is to that item – to that memory – and you can’t help but become attached as well. Each design is special, just like each story.”
One custom order that particularly stands out to Edwards is that of a pendant that also transforms into a brooch. The design is made of Aquamarines, each of which had been given to the customer by her mother in separate pieces over the years. In the combined design, the client could enjoy each of those memories at once.
“It’s things like that that make our job so rewarding,” said Edwards. “We are able to use our experience – our understanding of the structural integrity of the design – to bring these memories to life for our clients.”
