For its 20th Birthday, Lynn Meadows Discovery Center will receive an amazing gift: a brand new welcome center courtesy of Elliott Homes. The Welcome Station will
serve as the new entrance for guests who enter the Discovery Center grounds.
The new Welcome Station will
help monitor visitors to the facility providing a safer environment for families enjoying their visit to the popular children’s museum. Guests will be able to purchase admission to the museum, memberships, snacks, and browse the newly expanded gift shop.
While Lynn Meadows will own the center, Elliott Homes is serving as
general contractor, designing and coordinating the build through a significant amount of volunteer effort. As for the design, Elliott Homes President Brandon Elliott says there
is a definite Dr. Seuss influence. “The building is curvy and asymmetrical, with walls that lean out and look like they’re tipping over. It’s a complicated build from a construction standpoint.”
Elliott Homes got involved with the project after many of its staff members recommended the idea. “As a team
we knew this was the right project for us,” said Elliott. “The Lynn Meadows Discovery Center has made such a big impact on childhood development and we wanted to be a part of something that would impact the future of the Coast in the long-term.”
Elliott Homes aspires to complete the project by May, just in time for Lynn Meadows’ 20th birthday celebration.
Lynn Meadows Discovery Center is a nationally recognized non-profit 501(c) (3) children’s museum and was the first children’s museum in the State
of Mississippi. The Discovery Center is dedicated to inspiring children, families and communities through the arts, interactive educational experiences and exploration.
Elliott Homes was established in 2009 and builds homes that combine quality construction with unique designs. This combination has garnered two national awards and 15 Best in Mississippi Awards. Elliott Homes has proudly built the 2012, 2015 and 2016 St. Jude Dream Homes.
