Mounted Game Trophies
set the Scene in Cypress Log Home

here’s an unusual home in Hancock County that sits serenely and beautifully amidst its quiet, rustic setting. The long, winding driveway leads through woodlands thick with pine, oak, sweet gum, magnolia and other native trees. There are occasional sightings of whimsical
animals — including a goat, pigs, a crocodile and monkeys — to add humor and give a hint of what’s to come. The drive is worth the wait when the stunning lodge-like home and 90-acre lake come into view.
This home is all about animals; from the friendly rescue dogs who greet visitors to the bass-stocked lake behind the house to the taxidermy specimens displayed inside. “We have the cast of The Lion King,” the homeowner says, referencing the popular Broadway play set in Africa.
That’s not an unfounded reference as her husband’s hunting expeditions have taken him to Africa numerous
times.
The mounted
trophies are amazingly realistic
and include a moose, cape buffalo,
lion, leopard, black bear, kudu, wart hog, elk,
tahr, nyala, black wildebeest, blue wildebeest,
red hartebeest, elan, blesbok, springbok, elk, deer, antelope, gazelle, and impala. There have been safaris to Mozambique, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada and all over the U.S.
When the hunting bug bit, it bit bad. It started with deer and ducks in Mississippi, but he soon realized there was other game out there. “I started with North American game and it grew from there,” the owner recalls. “I have now hunted on four continents and still have a wish list that
is nowhere near complete, although my wife says she’s
