LETTER from the editor
April is a beautiful month in South Mississippi with warm weather, blooming flowers and many things to do that give us reasons to get outside. The month kicks off with two of the area’s most enjoyable events, Art in the Pass and Barbecue Under the Oaks. And the pleasure continues with other activities throughout the month.
Surely you like this month’s colorful, upbeat front cover as much as we do. It previews the special Kids section, a fun section with useful information. We
feature stories
about kids, including the rise in home schooling, kids and sports, kids and dogs, and more.
If it’s April,
that means this
school year
won’t last much
longer. Parents
are beginning to
make plans for
family vacations
and summer
camps. Check
out our list of
summer camps
in the Kids
special section. It’s brimming with options and seems to offer something for every age and interest. We also provide a list of private schools because as sure as summer comes, it quickly ends and another school term begins.
We also carried the kids theme into this month’s Healthy Living section with stories about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, the neonatal intensive care unit at Memorial Hospital and tips for keeping kids healthy and safe this summer. Furthermore, The Final Say was written by one of the Coast’s most popular pediatricians, Dr. Bryant McCrary.
The People section shines the spotlight on two of Biloxi’s ‘old salts’ who have received a national honor while keeping the area’s fishing tradition alive and well.
The Sports & Outdoor section is full of news, including information about the big boat show this month, the Biloxi Shuckers’ new season and how Biloxi’s own Killer Bee Bait is selling bait around the world.
Not to be overlooked are the usual highlights — the calendar of events, dining reviews and Coast Notes covering a wide range of topics.
