Wild Turkey Populations Now Thrive Across Mississippi

Eastern wild turkeys now thrive across Mississippi, but they nearly disappeared from the Magnolia State about a century ago. In the late 19th
and early 20th centuries, timber companies chopped and sawed through forests, destroying vital turkey habitat. Habitat loss combined with unregulated hunting devastated populations.
