HOME & GARDEN
During the early days of the renovation, the Endrises lived in a newer addition to the old house that's called the cottage. Major is the best way to describe this renovation. The original house was gutted; the ceilings raised; some doors and walls were removed and some were added; all new wiring and plumbing were put in; and it was leveled. Square nails and a wooden pulley were found that undoubtedly date to the late 1800s. Wooden beams, a mantle and some
ship lap boards were taken down and repurposed. “I used as much from the old house as possible,” Endris says. “I left the shiplap in its natural state and used it
on the back wall of the bar. The beams and mantle were cut to make decorative shelves.”
The original wood oors were re nished and lightened. In the kitchen, where a wall was removed to make it more open, brick pavers were installed on the oor and quartz on the countertops. White custom-built cabinetry soars to the heightened ceiling with top cabinets having glass fronts. Clear acrylic bar chairs complete the contemporary look.
This contemporary design is used throughout in cool shades of white, gray and blue with decorative accents of gold and silver. It provides a juxtaposition
for the home's historic exterior and is welcoming for modern living. Now the bedrooms and updated bathrooms are light and spacious.
The house didn't have a back door so one was added to provide access to the backyard pool and re pit.
The home has a total of 2,490 square feet with three bedrooms and three baths, including the cottage addition. As she nishes the arduous task of renovating and modernizing the main house, Endris is ready to take a breather before starting on the cottage area.
