Chef Scott Duplantis, Shaggy’s

The amazing sights, smells and laughter found in Grandma’s kitchen inspired Chef Scott Duplantis to
take what he learned as a child a step further. A native of Baton Rouge, Duplantis moved to the Coast about a year ago with his wife and kids, bringing his passion and skills to Shaggy’s as their Corporate Chef.
“My favorite thing about being a chef is being able to share my passion and knowledge with others – both our cooks and the kids I teach at our Little Chef Nights,” Duplantis said.
He also likes transforming “old school” dishes into something new,  following current food trends. “I really love making something that people swear up and down they don’t like and changing their minds by flipping the script with their perception,” he said.  “So it becomes a dish they must have, instead of something they used to turn their noses up to.” 
After 28 years in the restaurant industry, Duplantis still considers himself a student of the culinary arts. “Celebrate the people that work

he said. “It is a shared passion that makes our jobs possible, and it’s the knowledge passed down from our predecessors that have brought it this far. It’s our turn to carry the torch to the next leg and inspire others to do it after us.” 
Shaggy’s has locations in Biloxi, Gulfport, and Pass Christian, and is a member of the Mississippi Coast Restaurant & Beverage Association.
