Since 1994, Coleman has been building upon the business that his mother founded, Naomi’s Cake Castle. His mother’s bakery focused on cake decorating, candy making and selling decoration supplies, but after taking over
the business, Coleman hoped to expand her dream into something even bigger. “A year after I took over Naomi’s Cake Castle, I decided to sell the bakery and retail side because my background was in banquets and catering,”
he said. “The thing that really drew me to catering is that it’s something new every day, with a new location and a new menu.”
Upon opening Naomi’s Catering, the business grew to meet demand as people across the Coast began to see what Coleman’s team was capable of. “We create events out of nothing,” he said. “From open fields to office lobbies, backyards and Katrina slabs, anything is possible.”
Part of what sets Naomi’s apart is the attention to detail and

devotion to clients. “From the first phone call or meeting, it’s my job to learn not only the client’s likes and dislikes, but their dreams for their event as a whole, especially when it comes to weddings,” Coleman said.
“I think about weddings a little bit differently from other events because they are so immensely personal. Brides come in with
this figurative box in their mind that’s full of ideas that they’ve collected throughout their lives. These hopes and dreams for their wedding are very precious to them, and often they’re reluctant to trust anyone with them because they’re afraid to be judged or disappointed,” Coleman said. “It’s my job to give them the courage
to trust me with that box and make their dreams a reality.”
Coleman’s ideals have made

vendors across the Coast who share the same values. “Our motto is ‘when only the best will do,’ and we stand by that,” he said. “We only do one wedding at a time to ensure that our brides
are our only focus on that day, or even for that week for that matter. For my staff, it can never be just
a job or be about money, it’s a sickness we have that we want to please people.”
The staff at Naomi’s is dedicated to just that. For them, their role
in an event is that it’s the client’s night and there will never be another one like it. “We try to
use locally-sourced items and
we never skimp on quality,” said Coleman. “Because of that, we may not be the least expensive
on the Coast, but we pass the standards for catering and create our own standards for ourselves. We go out of our way to customize an event until it’s just right, and to accommodate special requests.”
