The Gulf Coast Community Foundation is looking toward the future with a new logo. It features an image with six leaves to represent the six counties it serves. Waves inside the G and C stand for Gulf Coast and represent
the Foundation’s continuous movement, impact, and the ripple effect of giving.
“This new logo is a symbol of positive change and growth going into the Foundation’s 35th year of serving South Mississippi,” says President and Executive Director Christen Duhé. “We felt it was the perfect time for a more modern logo reflecting how we’ve grown and adapted.”
Founded in 1989 as part of the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce, the original intent was to be an education foundation. “The committee soon realized they would have a larger impact on the community as a community foundation,” Duhé said. “Pat Santucci put together the original committee. Rodger Wilder was the incorporating attorney and is still active in the organization.”
Since its beginning, the Foundation has given more than $110 million in grants and scholarships.
“We can help anyone create a fund to support charitable needs in our community,” Duhé said. “We strive to help individuals, businesses, and other organizations put their passion into action.”
   Tour of
 62ND ANNUAL
There’s not a more festive way to celebrate the holiday season than the Gulfport Civic League’s 62nd Annual Christmas Tour of Homes Sunday, December 8, from 2 until 4 p.m. Four exquisite homes in Bayou Oaks in Gulfport will be featured. Tour guests are invited to the Tea House, home of Regan and Sterling Foster, 2 Bayou Place, where there will be a silent auction.
“The tour kicks off the season, and we invite you to
come enjoy it with us,” said Tour Chairman Lynn Lofton. “The Civic League embraces the spirit of giving, and the overwhelming community support of the Tour allows us to fulfill our mission of serving those with special needs.”
The Bayou Oaks homes on tour include those of Regan and Sterling Foster, 2 Bayou Place; Morgan and Matt McCabe, 10 Cedarwood Lane; Blair and Lee Seegers, 2 Birch Cove; and Jennifer and Brent Stewart, 25 Old Oak Lane.
The group was formed in 1947 by 18 civic-minded women who came together to staff a polio clinic by checking in patients, assisting staff, and entertaining children with activities. Today, some of the groups the Civic League supports are CASA of Harrison County, the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence, the Salvation Army, and Camp Able.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased through members, at the door of tour homes or by calling 228.265.3591.
