WILSON
Chairman, President and CEO of Mississippi Power
Christmas will be extra special at the Wilson home this year. After a couple of decades of spending the holidays with my wife and three daughters, this will be my first one to enjoy with them plus my new son-in-law, Ben. This is one of my favorite times of the year when families get together, reflect on their blessings and the reason for the season, and look forward to new beginnings in a new year.
It seems the holiday decorations go up earlier and earlier each year and the Christmas songs hit the airwaves around the clock even before Thanksgiving. For me, the unofficial start of the holiday season in Coastal Mississippi is when I see those dazzling light displays coming together in Jones Park.
I grew on the Coast, a native of D’Iberville. While work for Southern Company took me away for a period of time, this is my home and I’m blessed to be back. That timeless Christmas classic captures it best: there really is no place like home for the holidays. We are fortunate to live in a region of the state that shines as brightly as those Jones Park lights with our abundant natural resources, thriving industry, unmatched hospitality and resilient residents.
One of the founding principles of our company is to be a “citizen wherever we serve.” Just like with our employees, South Mississippians are always willing to support their communities and help others. There will be outpouring
of charity this month like participating in toy drives or preparing meals for the less fortunate, so it’s fitting that the theme of this edition of South Mississippi Living is giving back.
Working together, we can meet the needs in our
communities now and after the calendar turns to January and beyond. It’s who we are and what we do.
Whether you are traveling to celebrate Christmas with family and friends or whether you will be gathering at home right here, remember to be safe in everything you do.
From the Wilson family and from our family at Mississippi Power, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season.
