While people may complain about getting older, there are benefits to being a senior citizen. Restaurants and shops often have discounts for those of a certain age. Casinos
along the Mississippi Gulf Coast have special offers for those 55 years or older. In fact, sometimes, you only have to be 50 years old to start reaping the rewards.
T he key at all casinos to getting rewards, such as discount meals and entry into tournaments, is having a players club card. There is no cost to getting a card – just
visit the players services booth and sign up. If you already have a card, ask if there is any special designation needed on the card. Then, check on the deals available.
Some casinos have speci c clubs for seniors, including the View Crew at Is- land View Casino Resort in Gulfport; in Biloxi, Club 50 Plus at Palace Casino Re- sort, Young at Heart at IP Casino Resort Spa and Wild Bunch at Boomtown; the 50+ Perks at Silver Slipper Casino Hotel in Hancock County; and the Hollywood
Legends at Hollywood Casino Gulf Coast in Bay St. Louis.
Each of these clubs is open to those 50 years and older, and offers select slot tournaments, hot seat promotions or free slot play for earning a set amount of points. Island View also has meal offers, while Silver Slipper has a Free Slot Play drawing and a kiosk game for seniors, and IP Casino has half-off at the buffet and a drawing for seniors who earn tier credits. Hollywood and Boomtown both have buffet specials, as well.
At Treasure Bay in Biloxi, Tuesdays are 50+ Days featuring a Scratch and Win ki- osk game, discount on breakfast or lunch at any restaurants, plus half-price drinks from 5 to 8 p.m. And at Golden Nugget,
Wednesdays are for those 50 years and older, with a free slot tournament and half-price buffet.
A few meal deals include: At Harrah’s Gulf Coast, each Monday, players club members 50 years and older get 50 percent off their buffet dinner when paying with cash or credit. Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort in D’Iberville offers a 50 percent discount at the Waterfront Buffet Monday through Thursday for lunch and dinner and Friday for dinner. And at Beau Rivage on Wednesdays, get 25 per- cent off breakfast or lunch in The Buffet.
