There has been a renaissance of sorts in the Gulf Coast restaurant scene. Bars and restaurants, many resting atop tall pilings and offering beautiful views
of the beach and magnificent sunsets, have been rising along Highway 90. Most have a heavy beach/tourist theme, and menus are pretty simple with great cheeseburgers, fried seafood, and hip bars, but there’s a new place in town that’s going to be a game changer.
Bacchus in Biloxi is a class act. Downstairs dining has that vibe of good food and a trendy place to be. Upstairs is an equally cool bar with Russell Moody, the coolest bartender on the Coast. The bar also offers a view of the busiest section of Highway 90 from a wrap around deck with a stunning
view of the Beau Rivage Casino and the MGM baseball park next door. You can’t sit there and enjoy a drink with friends and not think that you’re in Vegas, but Vegas remade in a fashionable New South way.
Bacchus is a good fit anytime, lunch or dinner, but it’s also open late, so if you’re a night owl or getting off that late shift, this is the place to be.
The menu hits all the right notes. There’s a killer burger, and if you get it loaded with everything the house offers, you will not forget it soon. If you want something up-scale, try the aged beef filet or the Almost Famous Pork Chop. The menu isn’t huge, but it’s as well balanced as a coastal menu can be, and perfect for late night eats.
